UH-1B Huey 63-12923

UH-1B 63-12923 was built by Bell helicopter in 1964. In 1965 it was assigned to the US Army in the 1st Cavalry, A troop, 1st Sqd, 9th Cav in Vietnam. It was brought down by small arms fire, resulting in 1 wounded and repaired in country.
In 1968 it was transferred to the US Navy Seawolves, Attack Helicopter (light) Squadron 3 (HA(L)3) Vietnam. It was first assigned Modex #312.

In 1970, Re-assigned as Modex #324.

On May 28th 1971 it was damaged by a 75MM recoiless rifle aboard YRBM-21, and repaired in country.
In 1972, 63-12923 returned to the USA and placed in storage with over 4,000 combat flight hours, 4,390 total aircraft time.

In the late 90's it was purchased by
Overseas Aircraft Support Inc. and was put in storage for possible future use.
In 2007 the old Huey was brought out of storage for a new life.

This photo shows the damage done by the 75MM recoiless rifle that hit it while on board YRBM-21 in May 1971.
Here is 923 in Arizona during restoration to fly. The aircraft is being restored back to flying condition by Overseas Aircraft Support Inc, and the final restoration to put into Vietnam configuration will be by Wings and Rotors Air Museum. The museum will operate the Huey as part of its collection.
923 will be painted in the Navy Seawolves markings that it wore in Vietnam as Modex #324 and will carry the names of all Seawolf KIA's. It will be a flying memorial to them and a tribute to all the Navy Seawolves that served with them.
