Huey 2084 "Make Over"
For many months now the museum has anticipated the arrival of the Huey Seawolf 63-12923, but due to maintenance and other delays it is not finished yet. We are not sure when it will be done. So, the museum decided it was time to honor the U.S. Navy Seawolves. The museum's UH-1B 62-2084 "Bandit" has now been painted to represent the Navy Seawolves.
Wings and Rotors at the American Heros Airshow at Hansen Dam, Jul 11th, 2009
Former Seawolf Gunner Bill Rutledge is VIP on board the Huey for the flight to Hansen Dam. Here he man's the 50 cal, like old times.
Scott and Shayne enjoy the flight. We departed French Valley at 6:15 am,, the sun was barely up and there was no wind. It  was one of the smoothest flights in ther Huey ever.
The sun peeks up over the hills behind us lighting up pilot's Pat Rodgers and Tom Woehl. What a view!  Here you can see downtown L.A.
Flying over the Rose Bowl,,,almost there!
These photos were taken by Damon Duran on our approach to the Dam.
                                                            Past meets Present....
On the left is Mark Gilliland who was a USMC Huey pilot with many missions in Iraq. He applied lessons he learned from a book about the Seawolves in Vietnam. These tactics used in the 60's were used recently by him, and it saved lives. Meeting Bill, a former Seawolf was a way to express his thanks. What an awesome encounter for us all!
It was a really hot day at this event....the Hooters girls paid us a visit. We even saw a smile on Pat's face!
Lots of people visited the Huey
